I'm a historian of youth politics and anti-colonial activism. My research asks how young people have imagined more just futures while confronting the efforts of states and empires to shape who they should become. I’m an Assistant Professor in the Youth & Children's Studies program at Wilfrid Laurier University. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University's Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Iran and Persian Gulf Studies, where I worked after completing my PhD at the University of Toronto.

Writer & Historian
Hi, I’m Sheragim!
Forthcoming Publications
2026
“Selling the Third Reich to Iran: Contesting the Historiography of Middle East Fascisms.” In The Routledge History of Global Nazism, edited by Jennifer Evans, Eric Kurlander, Julia Torrie, and Jonathan Wiesen. Routledge (2026).
In my teaching, I draw on the sights, sounds, and cultural styles of contemporary youth to show that history is alive and connected to their experiences. Whether discussing anime’s reinterpretations of the past, the online activism of young people living under censorship, or student movements around the world, I invite students to recognize that they are powerful shapers of history, not merely its observers.
In Progress
“Forging a Politics of Solidarity: Kaveh, Iranshahr and the Transnational Anti-Imperial Networks in Berlin.” In The Cambridge History of Modern Political Thought in Iran, edited by Ali Mirsepassi, Bita Mousavi, Brian Plungis, and Gobarg Rekabtalaei. Cambridge University Press.
